Role Overview
The Informatics Business Development Representative is a point-of-care software sales professional responsible for driving growth across assigned territories. This role focuses on selling Abbott’s RALS Informatics solutions by expanding existing customer relationships and securing new business across hospitals, physician office labs (POLs), clinics, urgent care centers, and retail pharmacies.
The role requires strong consultative selling skills, the ability to navigate complex healthcare environments, and the capability to influence decision-makers across clinical, operational, and executive levels.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
- Drive profitable revenue growth through new customer acquisition and expansion of existing accounts
- Own the full sales cycle, from prospecting through close
- Build and manage a strong pipeline by identifying high-potential opportunities
- Deliver customized solutions that address customer needs and improve outcomes
- Identify and execute cross-sell and up-sell opportunities
Account & Relationship Management
- Develop a deep understanding of assigned accounts, including goals, challenges, and competitive landscape
- Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and decision-makers, including C-suite executives
- Act as an internal advocate for customers while collaborating with cross-functional Abbott teams
- Support expansion from hospital systems into decentralized and outpatient locations
Strategic & Operational Excellence
- Analyze market trends, regulatory changes, and industry dynamics
- Maintain detailed knowledge of Abbott’s informatics portfolio and laboratory workflows
- Support strategic planning by assessing total available market and growth opportunities
- Ensure all commitments to customers are met with high quality and consistency
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work closely with internal teams including sales, informatics, and account management
- Contribute to best practices and continuous improvement initiatives
- Champion customer needs internally to drive innovation and solution development
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5 years of professional work experience
- Proven experience managing complex sales cycles
- Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills
- Proficiency with CRM tools and Microsoft Office
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of sales experience within diagnostics, informatics, or healthcare technology
- Proven success in value-based and solution-oriented selling
- Experience with large Integrated Delivery Networks (IDNs)
- Background in business, life sciences, engineering, or related technical field
- Knowledge of laboratory informatics and healthcare data systems
- Strong business planning, analytical, and organizational skills
- Leadership experience managing complex client engagements
Compliance & Quality
- Adhere to Abbott’s Quality Management System and regulatory standards (FDA, ISO, etc.)
- Complete all required credentialing, training, and compliance requirements
Compensation
- Base Salary Range: $85,300 – $170,700
- (Actual compensation may vary based on location, experience, and qualifications.)
