Role Overview
The Sales Development Representative (SDR) plays a critical role in driving early-stage customer engagement and pipeline development across 10x Genomics’ product portfolio, including Chromium, Visium, and Xenium platforms.
This role focuses on lead generation, qualification, and engagement across academic institutions, government organizations, medical research centers, biotech companies, and service providers. The SDR will collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, and Scientific teams to generate high-quality opportunities and support revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Qualification
Develop and execute independent lead generation strategies using research-driven methods
Identify and qualify high-potential prospects across academic, biotech, pharma, and research institutions
Manage inbound and outbound leads from campaigns, web inquiries, webinars, and events
Generate qualified opportunities for Account Managers and Sales Specialists
Sales & Pipeline Support
Support the full sales cycle by qualifying opportunities and facilitating smooth handoffs to sales teams
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM systems
Track and report pipeline activity, performance metrics, and conversion data
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve sales cycle efficiency
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with Marketing to support campaigns and optimize lead flow
Work with Scientific & Technology Advisors and Xenium Capital Specialists to coordinate meetings and presentations
Support territory planning and execution in alignment with broader commercial objectives
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
0–1+ years of experience in sales, business development, or a related commercial role
Familiarity with life sciences, biotechnology, or academic research environments
Ability to identify customer needs and articulate value-driven solutions
Experience using CRM platforms and sales tools
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Fluency in English (additional languages a plus)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) or genomics-related sales
Familiarity with Salesforce (SFDC)
Demonstrated success selling technical or scientific products
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $67,900 – $91,900 (USD)
Total compensation includes base salary, potential incentive compensation, equity grants, and comprehensive benefits
Compensation may vary based on experience, location, and qualifications
